Warehouse Support

Automation - Vertical Lift Modules (VLM)

A vertical lift module (VLM) is an enclosed system that consists of two columns of trays with an inserter/extractor in the center. The VLM inserter/extractor automatically locates stored trays and retrieves trays from both the front and back of the unit with a push of a button and delivers them to the operator at an ergonomically positioned pick window. Designed to deliver stored items to the operator and eliminate walk and search time, the VLM can increase productivity up to 2/3. EFS can design a Vertical Lift Module in various heights and widths to meet your needs. Utilizing the floor to ceiling height and storing trays in height optimized positions allows the VLM to save up to 75% floor space when compared to standard shelving. With the VLM, organizations can expand operations internally without a brick-and-mortar building expansion, or consolidate multiple facilities. The VLM optimizes storage cube to provide maximum storage capacity in a minimal footprint. Each time a tray is stored, the height of the product on the tray is scanned. The VLM them automatically optimizes the tray height and stores it using the least amount of space required for maximum storage density. VLMs can be equipped with even more advanced technology to make picking more secure and more efficient.  Call us today to learn more and see if this solution would be right for you.

Support - Warehouse Safety and Protection

A warehouse is a dangerous place. The combination of heavy loads, high stacks and fast-moving equipment is the perfect storm for the numerous injuries and even fatalities that happen every year in warehouses all over the world. Fortunately, there are ways to minimize these dangers. For one, warehouse employers can enforce stricter safety guidelines by which workers can abide. And second, companies can invest in warehouse safety products. EFS carries an entire line of products that make the material handling industry safer. Warehouse Safety Starts With EFS. One of the biggest dangers of working in a warehouse is the heavy inventory that’s often stacked to the ceiling. Just the smallest bump from a forklift, pallet jack or other piece of equipment can cause these stacks to fall. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, around 8% of all forklift-related fatalities are the result of falling material. One of the best ways to protect against this kind of accident is with our warehouse safety products. Just some of these include:

  • Crash Barriers – Surround inventory on all sides with an impact-absorbing steel frame

  • Pedestrian Barriers – Keep employees separated from heavy or fast-moving machinery

  • Column Guards – Protect drivers from impacts with heavy steel or concrete columns

  • Rack Guard – Safeguard your pallet rack columns from equipment mishaps. Use in conjunction with our Rack End Protectors.

  • Bollards – Our flexible bollards better absorb impact to protect drivers and machinery alike.

  • Goal Posts – Get total door protection that installs easily and stops damaging hits from heavy equipment.

A conveyor system is used in many industries as a standard piece of mechanical handling equipment to move goods, products, raw goods, and other materials from one location to another, usually in the same area or building. They are extremely handy for businesses that deal with heavy goods, sharp items, raw materials, and mass-produced products. Conveyor systems allow for quick and efficient transportation of a business materials and products as well as being able to move heavy items such as palletized loads down a packing line which make them popular in the material handling and packaging industries as well as the manufacturing industries. Most automated technologies are never a one size fits all. Let EFS design the system that fits your application.

Support - HVLS Fans

The large indoor fans ideal for warehouses are called HVLS fans.  This simply stands for High Volume Low Speed. HVLS fans slowly circulate a large amount of air as the air is pulled from above the fan and pushed down to the floor below. EFS has placed these highly efficient, cost-saving commercial ceiling fans in warehouses, distribution centers, gymnasiums, and a variety of other applications. Circulating at an optimized low speed, HVLS industrial fans maximize the movement of large quantities of air over the largest area at the lowest cost. HVLS fans vary in size and can be as large as 26' in diameter. HVLS fans have benefits year-round by creating a more comfortable environment while saving on energy costs. They keep people cool in the summer, and in the winter, they can be used for destratification - a process that mixes warm air from the ceiling with cooler air at the floor. Call on of our experts to learn more and see if a HVLS fan is right for you.
